Bio-based Polyurethane Derived from Carbon Dioxide and Epoxidized Soybean Oil

چکیده
The synthesis of polyurethane relies on a toxic and petroleum-based isocyanate reactant. aim this research was to synthesize Polyurethane using environment-benign renewable starting materials such as carbon dioxide soybean oil. carbonated oil first prepared from (CO2) epoxidized (ESBO) zinc glutarate (ZnGA) catalyst but the result FTIR indicated absence peak cyclic carbonate around 1800 cm-1. Therefore, in work, modified A. Lee (Lee & Deng, 2015) tetramethylammonium bromide (TBAB) catalyst. as-synthesized (CSBO) allowed react with two types substances, 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane or diethylenetriamine molar ratios carbonate:NH2 1:1 THF DMF solvents obtain Polyurethanes (U1THF, U1DMF, U2THF, U2DMF). After 3 hours lignin solution added form film. Raman spectra confirmed removal CSBO. showed cm-1 assigned CSBO, new urethane linkage 1700 (C=O stretching) Polyurethanes. conversion epoxide also by 1H-NMR. Upon adding into Polyurethanes, lignin-urethane U1THF, U1DMF formed films whereas U2DMF viscous liquids. In terms applications, all four formulations can be potentially applied bioadhesives.

A Novel Bio-based Sulfonic Zwitterionic Surfactant Derived from Transgenic Soybean Oil and its Performance in Surface and Interfacial Activities
Bio-based surfactants have attracted increasing attention due to their renewable resources and excellent surface properties. In this study, a novel bio-based sulfonic zwitterionic surfactant (BSZS) derived from transgenic soybean oil was prepared using a simple reaction route with two steps of the amidation and quaterisation. The bio-based sulfonic zwitterionic surfactant showed a critical mice...

Ring-opening polymerization of epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) catalyzed by boron trifluoride diethyl etherate (BF3 OEt2) in methylene chloride was conducted in an effort to develop useful biodegradable polymers. The resulting polymerized ESO (PESO) were characterized using infrared (IR) spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), H NMR, C NMR, solid st...
متن کاملSynthetic lubricant basestocks from epoxidized soybean oil and Guerbet alcohols
Vegetable oils are biodegradable and therefore good candidates for environmentally friendly base stocks. They have excellent lubricity, but poor oxidation and low temperature stabilities. For this study, synthetic lubricant basestocks with oxidative stabilities and pour points comparable with commercial synthetic lubricant basestocks have been prepared by reacting epoxidized soybean oil with Gu...
متن کاملBiodegradation of Polyurethane Derived from Castor Oil
The aim of this research was to study the biodegradation of a polymer derived from castor oil, which is a renewable, natural material that is a practical alternative for the replacement of traditional polyurethane foams. Due to its molecular structure, which contains polyester segments derived from vegetable oil, the polymeric surface is susceptible to microorganism attack. This study tested th...
متن کاملStudies on the Synthesis and Characterization of Epoxidized Soybean Oil
Traditionally, polymers are synthesized from petrochemical by-products. The greenhouse gas emissions from petroleum based polymers make them unattractive options as there has been an increase in climate changes and adverse weather conditions. Additionally, they are non-degradable, creating issues when used as landfills. For these reasons and more, there is an urgent need to find an alternative ...
